Nidhal Garmo, Founder

I grew up as part an average family Baghdad , Iraq until I immigrated to the United States in 1980. Upon arriving to the United States, I began working as a cashier in a grocery store and also attended college at Wayne State University. The safety and security that I found in America is unlike that of any other country. It truly is the land of opportunity. I was able to create a life for myself and my family that I could not have experienced anywhere else.

When I graduated from Wayne State University, I earned a position working as a pharmacist for Perry Drugs now Rite Aide. After 5 years, I decided to open my own business. I established my first Nidhal pharmacy which was Sav-mor franchise in Farmington , Michigan. Due to the rapid growth and success at that location, I was able to open another location in Southfield, Michigan and later a 3rd in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Currently owning two Sav-mor franchises.

I spent my entire childhood in Iraq, and my love for my home country has helped me to remember the people that have been suffering for so many years. Many people in Iraq have lead lives full of hardship and strife, progressing from one disaster to the next. Having understood first hand how so many individuals struggle on a daily basis, I was determined to help. In 1992, I began sending medicine, money, and other donations to a few families that I knew needed help. I soon decided that was not good enough and I wanted to do more.

Rather than sitting idly by, I was determined to make a difference in the lives of families that had been torn apart by war. I found a non-profit organization called World Medical Relief that best matched my interests. I am blessed to have opportunity to work with this organization and help suffering children around the world. Please join my mission and together we can help those in need, especially in Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon, and Africa.
